The headline might be a bit deceiving. Jay-Z and Coldplay didn’t exactly ‘rock’ the Beastie Boys is a bad way, but they did play ‘No Sleep ‘Til Brooklyn’ and ‘Fight For Your Right To Party’ recently at the All Points West Festival.
The Beastie Boys had to cancel their summer schedule due to the recent announcement by Adam Yauch, aka MCA, that he was diagnosed with cancer. This morning Adam sent an email to Beastie Boys fans letting us know that he has completed the surgery and has radiation coming up next. In addition to his mention of Jay-Z playing ‘No Sleep ‘Til Brooklyn’ and Chris Martin of Coldplay singing ‘Fight For Your Right To Party,’ Adam also sent thanks to Q-Tip for sending him a public shout out, along with the fans for their support.
I grew up listening to the Beastie Boys and have been following them since 1986. Over the years, their music has helped me through many tough times, along with being a constant reminder “to be true to yourself and you will never fall.”
Please send your thoughts and love to Adam and his family. Get better soon! In the meantime, enjoy……
