Google’s integration of Google Places into their search engine results is having a bigger and quicker impact than most imagined. Using their location recognition, they now provide you with results that are more relevant for the user, which also puts local businesses on the top of Google search results without spending tons of time and money trying to get there. Listings from Google Places used to be only on Google Maps, but now they’re not only showing up in their regular results, but they have their own Google Places tab too.

Google’s decision to utilize Google Places has officially changed many games, most notably in the search results and Google’s impact among other location based services such as Yelp, whose place in search results are now replaced by Google Places listings.  The search game is effected for local businesses, SEO companies and users alike, as well as Bing who just made big strides in their share of the search market, especially with their announcement of the Facebook integration.

This goes a lot deeper than meets the eye and will have a long lasting results that are yet to be seen.
